PIC announces plan to destroy patient records up to 2022

The Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) has announced that it will be destroying medical records of patients maintained up to the year 2022, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.

The institute has urged patients and their families to collect their medical records before the deadline if needed.

According to the notification issued by PIC, individuals who wish to obtain copies of their past medical records must contact the hospital’s computer section before 3:00 pm on August 30, 2025.

After this deadline, all remaining records up to 2022 will be permanently destroyed as part of the hospital’s data management policy.

Hospital officials said the decision was taken to manage storage capacity and streamline the handling of medical data in line with institutional practices.

However, they stressed that adequate time has been given for patients to secure their medical history if needed.

The administration has advised patients, particularly those undergoing long-term treatment or follow-ups, to ensure they collect their files before the mentioned date to avoid inconvenience in future medical consultations.
