Transporters to hold talks with federal, provincial govts in Karachi tomorrow

All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President Malik Shahzad Awan has announced that representatives of goods transporters will hold talks with the federal and provincial governments at the Governor's House in Karachi tomorrow (Sunday).

According to Awan, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan and Punjab Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan will travel to Karachi to participate in the negotiations. He said the Sindh governor, the federal communications minister, Punjab and Sindh transport ministers and other government representatives would attend the talks.

Awan said the nationwide strike by transporters had entered its eighth day, with transporters from across the country participating in the protest. He expressed hope that the negotiations would lead to a resolution of the transporters' grievances and allow the movement of goods vehicles to resume.

However, he made it clear that the strike would continue until the transporters' demands are formally accepted. He urged transporters across Pakistan to remain peaceful, saying that positive developments were expected soon.

At the same time, Awan said transporters would not be satisfied with verbal assurances from the federal or provincial governments.

The nationwide strike has disrupted goods transportation across Pakistan, while the upcoming talks are being viewed as a key opportunity to resolve the dispute and restore normal transport operations.
