On Saturday, the Sindh government removed senior bureaucrat Shallwani from both offices -- the office of the Karachi commissioner and the office of the Karachi administrator. Shallwani was basically working as Karachi administrator, while had the additional charge of commissioner’s office. The provincial government appointed Naveed Ahmad Sheikh new commissioner of Karachi and Laeeq Ahmad administrator of the Sindh capital. Shallwani’s services were handed over to the federal government. Laeeq was working as excise secretary before he was transferred and made new administrator of the metropolis.
In a related development, Food Secretary Haleem Sheikh was given the additional charge of the excise department. These appointments were made after Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah’s approval.
