Another horrifying incident of forced and underage marriage was reported by 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday as an influential person in Khairpur made the victim girl’s father a hostage and arranged her nikah with his son.

Later, the aggrieved father reached the local police station in search of justice and protection along with his daughter Shabiran as he shared the details of the incident which occurred at Samiputa in the Chondko area.

Showing the torture marks on his body, he informed the police that the accused, Bahawal Rajpar who is his brother, tortured and later tied him with ropes before managing the nikah of Shabiran with Azad Rajpar.

Meanwhile, the police said they had received the information about the incident and would soon take action against the accused.

The most disgusting fact related to this case is the fact that the accused is a paternal uncle of this nine-year-old girl, yet again proving the myth wrong that family members and relatives in our society can never harm the children. In fact, there can’t be any forced marriages without the involvement of family members.

But there is another problem: the state has been unable to fully implement the laws to ensure that there are no underage marriages in the country as the police mostly seem reluctant to take timely and effective action after being notified.
