Parliamentary activities allowed after 10 days

The parliamentary activities have been partially resumed on Tuesday after ten-day closure with limited staff and strict implementation of the coronavirus guidelines, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The standing committees of the upper house of the parliament are also allowed to hold meetings under strict Covid-19 SOPs.

The Senate Secretariat had framed SOPs for the parliamentary activities according to which the meetings of the standing committees can be attended by the representatives of the ministries and a limited number of journalists.

The unnecessary staff of Senators and the government officers will not be allowed to sit in the Committee Room. Members must wear face masks and observe social distancing.

The standing committees can only summon meetings relating to Covid-19 and other important issues.

The committee room will be sprayed with disinfectant after every meeting.
