Qatar military attache, Lankan High Commissioner call on Kh Asif
Sri Lankan HC expresses gratitude to Pakistan for the timely humanitarian assistance and support provided in recent floods
Qatar Military Attache in Pakistan, Brig Gen Abdul Hadi Mohammed Arhib Al Hajri on Monday called on Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif here at his office.
The Minister for Defence welcomed the dignitary and conveyed that Pakistan attached great value to its relations with Qatar, said a press release issued here.
“Qatar is an important country for us and has a key role to play in the region. Our relations with Qatar are very smooth governed by mutual respect and cooperation,” Khawaja said.
The Minister said that both sides need to work closely to further extend their cooperation beyond the economic domain to defence, military exercises and training of personals and joint ventures. “Our military institutions are open for Qatari Armed Forces to avail maximum training facilities.”
The visiting dignitary acknowledged the existing scope and scale of cooperation in the field of defence between the two countries.
Meanwhile, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Rear Admiral (Retd) Fre Seneviratne, called on Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif here on Monday. The Minister appreciated the longstanding friendship between Pakistan-Sri Lanka, said a press release issued.
He stated that considering the proximity of views on major issues and in the regional context, both countries need to further cement existing ties by capitalizing on the positive trajectory of multifaceted relations, the press release said. The Minister highlighted that Pakistan considers Sri Lanka as an important regional country, contributing significantly towards regional and global peace, and also expressed that Pakistan respects and supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Sri Lanka.
“The Sri Lankan High Commissioner expressed his deep gratitude for the timely humanitarian assistance and support provided by the Government of Pakistan. Visiting dignitary praised the professionalism of Pak Armed Forces, acknowledging their achievements in counter-terrorism.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over ongoing collaboration between two countries and aimed at strengthening the cooperation in mutually beneficial fields.
