Five persons died and 11 others injured in collision between a dumper truck and van on Fateh Jang-Pindi Road near Qutbal Toll plaza on Saturday.

According to police, the accident occurred due to negligence of the dumper driver. He made a wrong crossing caused a severe collision with the van, resulting in the death of five persons including the van driver, the rescuers informed. Eleven other passengers sustained severe injuries.

On informed, Rescue 1122 ambulances arrived at the scene and shifted the dead bodies and injured to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Fateh Jang.

Doctors at the hospital, however, referred five of the injured persons to Rawalpindi.

The police said the van was on the way to Pindighep. The deceased and injured persons belong to Pindighep. The dumper driver fled the scene.

The police registered a case and started further investigation.
