February 16, 2020 08:59 AM

Another six-year-old minor girl succumbed to dog bite injuries due to shortage of anti-rabies vaccine in Fatehpur THQ Hospital on Saturday.

Six-year-old Muazma, daughter of Gul Sher Ahmed, was bitten by a stray dog in her village Chak 224/TDA. Her parents brought her to Fatehpur THQ Hospital. The minor, however, could not be saved due to shortage of anti-rabies vaccine in the hospital. The hospital administration provided her first-aid but failed to save her life.

According to hospital admin, there is severe paucity of anti-rabies vaccine in all healthcare dispensation outlets of the district.

Death of the girl sparked protest by the family and local residents against negligence of the health officials. They regretted that neither the government cull the growing canine population, nor provide anti-rabies vaccine.
