IHC reserves verdict on admissibility of petition against ex-CJP’s security

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday reserved its verdict on the maintainability of the petition filed against extra-security demanded by former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Gulzar Ahmed following his retirement, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Riaz Hanif Rahi, the petitioner, appeared in the court and prayed for the transfer of the case to another Bench. 

However, IHC Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah told him in clear and unambiguous terms that he could not get the Bench of his choice. “Which Bench will hear your petition is the court’s discretion, not yours. You better start giving arguments on the merits of the case,” he stated categorically. 

The petitioner replied that he had no further arguments to give in the case, and requested the court to give whatever order it deemed appropriate.
