The non-opening of letters of credit (LCs) due to excessive increase in the rate of US dollar has badly hit the import of medicines, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
There is an acute shortage of Heparin, one of the life-saving drugs, in the country.
Heparin’s injection is inevitable for saving the lives of heart patients as well as those suffering from paralyses.
The medicine helps prevent the clotting of blood in human body.
But the situation is that the medicine is in short supply even at government hospitals.
On the other hand, the government is yet to take steps to ensure the availability of the drug.
