PTI, TTAP’s sit-in against Imran Khan’s health issues enters third day
The sit-in staged by the PTI and the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) at the Parliament House to protest against the health issues former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan is facing at Adiala Jail entered its third day on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Opposition Leader in Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and PTI leaders Falak Naz Chitrali and Aun Abbas Pabbi and others were present on the occasion.
On Saturday, on the second day of PTI’s sit-in, the government woke up from its slumber and established a contact with the party for finding a way out of the present deadlock through negotiations.
Sources told the 24News TV channel that the discussions centered round Imran’s treatment according to the jail manual.
The party MPs, MNAs and MPAs registered their protest at the Parliament House, KP House and Parliament Lodges, while large contingents of the police remained on their toes to prevent the situation from turning violent.
KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur were among PTI MPs and MPAs, who were present at the KP House.
Similarly, a large number of PTI MPs and MPAs staged a sit-in at the Parliament Lodges.
The district administration of Islamabad on Friday had closed all roads leading to the Red Zone, keeping in view the opposition’s protest outside the Parliament House.
Talking to the media, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said, “PTI founder’s health is not stable, so nobody should object to his medical treatment.”
He said that people are facing hurdles to reach the site of the protest.
Barrister Gohar said that he himself reached here after 45 minutes.
He went on to say, “The road closures will cause us difficulties, but our protest has been successful before it even began.”
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also reached Islamabad to participate in the protest.
PTI leader Asad Qaiser said “I am lucky, so I have reached here.”
He said they were demanding relief for Imran Khan on health issues.
He said that in case they were not allowed to sit here, then next plan of action would be announced.
Talking to the media men, Tehreek-TTAP leader said, “We are firm on our stand to hold a peaceful protest.”
He said that the government is not taking the PTI founder's health issue seriously.
He demanded that PTI founder be sent to Al Shifa Eye Hospital for treatment.
He said that if PTI founder lost his eyesight, then who would be responsible?
A seven-page report on the former prime minister’s health and the facilities provided to him at Adiala Jail, submitted to the Supreme Court (SC) by PTI lawyer Salman Safdar a couple of days ago, prompted the party to announce a sit-in since some startling revelations had been made in it.
The report revealed that the former prime minister had complained that for three months the jail authorities did not take his eye infection seriously.
Quoting Imran, the report had disclosed that in October 2025, his eyesight was 6/6. “But later it started deteriorating. And everything started to appear murky to me,” the PTI founder said, adding that despite repeatedly informing the jail superintendent, he was not taken to a doctor for a checkup.
The report informed that despite treatment provided to Imran at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), the vision in his right eye dropped to just 15 per cent.
The report also mentioned that during Safdar’s meeting, water was oozing from Imran’s eyes.
Furthermore, his teeth had not been checked for the last two years.
On the facilities provided to the former prime minister, the report had said that he had been kept in solitary confinement, and that the television set installed in his room was out of order.
