Sindh CM Murad rejects MQM calls for Karachi province

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said on Sunday that some individuals were spreading propaganda and suggesting the creation of a province in Karachi, which the citizens do not desire.

Speaking at the inauguration of a bridge in Karachi, Murad Ali Shah urged people to focus on work rather than being misled. He said that proposals to make Karachi a province would not succeed, neither by his wish nor anyone else’s, and that what is in the Constitution must prevail.

Murad Ali Shah added that the Punjab Assembly had passed a resolution for the creation of new provinces, but the Sindh government would never follow suit. He remarked that Sindh had played a pivotal role in the creation of Pakistan and that anyone talking about breaking the province was not loyal to the country’s history.

The Chief Minister responded to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement calls, said Sindh Govt was trying  to strengthen local government which is already part of the Sindh government’s manifesto.
