Court summons Meesha on 18th over hate campaign against Ali Zafar
A court in Lahore has summoned singer Meesha Shafi and other suspects on January 18 in connection with running a campaign against actor and pop star Ali Zafar on social media, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Judicial Magistrate Zulfiqar Bari, in the summons, has asked suspects Iffat Omar, Leena Ghani, Fareeha Ayub, Ali Gul, Haseemuz Zaman and Syed Faizan Raza to appear in the district court on 18th.
As per challan, Meesha Shafi and Maham Javed are not in police’s custody while Iffat Omar, Leena Ghani, Fareeha Ayub, Ali Gul, Haseemuz Zaman and Syed Faizan Raza are on bail.
Ali Zafar had approached FIA’s Cyber Crime Cell to lodge complaint against suspects for maligning him by sharing insulting posts on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
The challan says that these posts tarnished pop star’s image in the eyes of people.
Meesha Shafi had released a statement on Twitter in 2018 alleging that Ali Zafar sexually harassed her.
Although the singer didn't reveal details of the incident, she claimed that she had "been subjected, on more than one occasion, to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar."
Having broken the ice, Meesha asked other women from the industry to step forward with their own stories of sexual harassment.
Ali Zafar released a statement, responding to Meesha's allegations
The singer categorically denied "any and all claims of harassment lodged against me by Ms Shafi".
