Housemaids' gang busted for sweeping industrialist's house in Karachi
Ferozabad police in Karachi have arrested five domestic female workers involved in a large-scale theft at the residence of a well-known industrialist, following a technically driven investigation that exposed an organized inside operation, reported by 24 News HD TV channel on Thursday.
According to Station House Officer Adil Afzal, the female suspects had been employed at the industrialist’s home for nearly nine years. The investigation revealed that the theft was orchestrated by the group’s ringleader, identified as Arooj, who allegedly stole the locker key from the homeowner’s bag and had a duplicate key made for Rs3,000 at a local key-making shop in Bahadurabad’s Dhoraji Colony.
Police stated that the stolen cash was used to purchase significant assets, including a house, a car, a motorcycle, and other valuable items. During the arrests, authorities recovered large sums of cash and multiple mobile phones from the suspects.
The arrested women have been identified as Arooj, Saira, Naila, Sana, and Alishba. Police confirmed that the suspects belong to different districts, including Vehari, Okara, Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, and Kot Addu.
A case has been registered at Ferozabad Police Station, and further investigation is underway. Law enforcement officials expect additional disclosures as questioning continues.
In recorded statements, police revealed that Arooj purchased a house in a posh neighborhood and acquired a Corolla car using the stolen money. She also reportedly bought a brand-new motorcycle worth Rs250,000 for her fiancé. Investigators added that Arooj’s brother earns separately by renting out a vehicle.
Police further disclosed that Arooj regularly distributed monthly expenses of Rs20,000 to Rs25,000 among her accomplices and systematically removed money from cupboards at different intervals. The thefts allegedly continued over an extended period without raising suspicion.
The industrialist, according to police, expressed shock over the betrayal, stating that he treated the domestic staff like family members. He further shared that over the nine years of employment, he financially supported them generously during times of joy and hardship, spending substantial amounts on their welfare.
Authorities emphasized that the arrests were made through technical surveillance and intelligence-based methods. Police confirmed that further recoveries and revelations are expected as the investigation progresses.
