The students council at Islamabad’s Quaid-e-Azam University went ahead with their protest strike for fourth day running on Thursday despite earlier reports that the issued has been resolved after holding talks with Higher Education Commission officials yesterday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Academic activities at the university have been disrupted for the last four days due to the strike called to protest lack of hostel accommodation for the students.

University transport closed today as well and final term exams badly affected due to the strike.

No papers could be held at the university this week because student council has announced to continue the protest until the approval for the establishment of a new hostel.

Earlier, student council announced to end the strike after successful negotiations with Higher Education Commission (HEC) officials and matter was resolved.

Negotiations between the students and the officials were successful, after which the HEC officials assured that the students' problems would be resolved.

Upon this, the students announced to end their protest outside HEC.
