Suhana Khan admits Shah Rukh and Gauri still call the shots as she plots Bollywood takeover

Daughter of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan has revealed that while she is keen to experiment and carve out her own identity in the film industry.

However, parents Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan remain the ultimate decision-makers when it comes to the biggest choices in her life.

The young actor opened up about her personal and professional journey in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar India, where she spoke candidly about confidence, instinct, pressure and the powerful influence of her famous parents.

As Suhana continues to grow more self-assured, she says that confidence has fuelled her desire to explore different paths and take creative risks. When it comes to making decisions, she explained that she often follows her instincts first, supports them with logic, and then inevitably overthinks. In those moments of doubt, she turns to her parents.

“I have to ask my parents. They get the final say,” Suhana said.

She admitted that Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan are her closest confidants, especially when uncertainty creeps in. According to Suhana, both parents guide her in very different ways, offering contrasting but complementary perspectives.

She shared that her father tends to give advice that is broad, reflective and poetic, often framing situations through deeper observations about life.

Her mother, on the other hand, is far more straightforward, delivering blunt, no-nonsense clarity that cuts through confusion. Suhana says she finds her balance somewhere between the two approaches.

When the pressure starts to feel overwhelming, she revealed that her coping mechanism is to narrow her focus and take things step by step, concentrating on one moment, one task and one day at a time.

Suhana made her acting debut in 2023 with The Archies, a teen musical directed by Zoya Akhtar. The film, an Indian adaptation of the iconic Archie Comics, was set in 1964 in the fictional hill station of Riverdale within an Anglo-Indian community. It featured an ensemble cast including Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi "Dot" Saigal and Yuvraj Menda, and received mixed reviews upon release.

Now, Suhana is preparing for a major milestone in her career as she gears up for her big-screen debut in King, where she will star alongside her superstar father. The film will see Shah Rukh Khan personally training her in action sequences. Directed by Siddharth Anand, King is slated for release in 2026.

The ambitious project boasts a star-studded cast that includes Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Abhay Verma, among others.

As Suhana steps into the spotlight with growing confidence, she makes it clear that while she is finding her own voice, the guiding presence of Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan continues to shape every major turn in her journey.
