Court indicts father and son in Lahore’s underage driving case

An anti-terrorist court (ATC) indicted accused Afnan and his father in an underage driving case in which six persons lost their lives in the Defence area of Lahore, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
ATC Judge Irfan Haider heard the case. During the hearing, a lawyer for the prosecution stated that a petition that was filed to exempt indictment of the accused had already been rejected.
The prosecution lawyer further stated that the accused filed this petition to further avoid their indictment.
The prosecution has already submitted a challan in the court against underage driver Afnan and five other accused.
After hearing the arguments, the court issued notices to the witnesses and ordered them to appear in the court on August 22, 2025.
It is necessary to mention here that the prosecution filed a challan against the minor accused Afnan Shafqat and his companions, Ali Abdullah, Muhammad Saad, and Muhammad Ibrahim, in the court.
They were not only held responsible for the fatal accident but also for harassing the women who lost their lives in the incident.
Among them was Shafqat Ali, who, despite not having a driver's license, handed over the car keys to his underage son, contributing to the accident.
