London to honour legend crickter Sarfraz Nawaz at special tribute evening

Pakistan cricket great Sarfraz Nawaz will be honoured at a special tribute event, "An Evening with Sarfraz Nawaz," in London on Friday, bringing together cricket fans to celebrate the legendary fast bowler's remarkable career and lasting contribution to the game, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.

According to sports organiser Sohail Javed Butt, the event will pay tribute to one of Pakistan's greatest cricket icons for his courage, class, and achievements.

The evening will also feature a musical performance, making it a unique celebration of the former Test star's legacy.

Sarfraz Nawaz represented Pakistan in 55 Test matches between 1969 and 1984, claiming 177 wickets during an outstanding international career.

His finest performance came against Australia at Melbourne in 1979, where he returned match figures of 9 for 86, including a historic spell of 7 wickets for just one run in 33 deliveries, helping Pakistan register a memorable victory.

Widely regarded as the pioneer of reverse swing, Sarfraz mastered the art of making the old ball move and proved highly effective on Pakistan's traditionally slow and unresponsive pitches.

He was also a genuine all-rounder and became only the third Pakistani cricketer to complete the double of 1,000 Test runs and 100 Test wickets.

The event will be held at Royal Nawab, Western Avenue, Johar Building, London, with an entry fee of £50 per seat. Fans attending the ceremony will also have the opportunity to present gifts and donations in support of Sarfraz Nawaz's autobiography.
