The federal government is all set to put an additional burden of Rs200 billion on electricity consumers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The National Electricity and Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) issued a detailed verdict on the application of the National Grid Company.

The payment of the outstanding amount will start from August 1, 2026. National Grid Company filed the application regarding expenditure for the last three years.

The verdict stated that the amount will be recovered from LESCO and all other electric distribution companies through bills.

Discos will receive funds from the tariff for all payments. Recoveries will be made by approving an additional price per unit under the tariff.

There is a risk that electricity prices will increase due to the payment of moderate expenses.
