‘Sufism and Culture’ exhibition showcases more than 30 artworks at PNCA

A one-day painting exhibition titled “Sufism and Culture” was held at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, featuring more than 30 artworks inspired by the universal message of Sufism and the cultural traditions of Punjab.

The exhibition displayed works by Ayman Atta, daughter of Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman, and artist Rumi. Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani inaugurated the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Gilani said presenting the Sufi values of peace, love and tolerance through art was particularly important in a society facing division and intolerance.

He praised the creativity of the two artists and said exhibitions of this kind could help promote positive social values and encourage cultural understanding.

The artworks explored themes linked to spirituality, harmony, heritage and Punjab’s cultural identity.

Art enthusiasts and members of the public attended the exhibition in large numbers and praised the displayed works for their meaning, originality and artistic quality.

Participants said the exhibition offered a thoughtful combination of Sufi philosophy and traditional cultural expression.

Senator Atta-ul-Haq Darwish, Senator Abdul Qadir, Senator Dilawar Khan, the PNCA director general and other officials and dignitaries also attended the ceremony.

Organisers said the exhibition was aimed at using visual art to promote peace, tolerance and appreciation of Pakistan’s cultural heritage.
