Newlywed couple shot dead in Mardan home invasion

Unidentified assailants stormed a house and opened fire on a newlywed couple, killing both in the middle of the night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The tragic event occurred within the jurisdiction of Jabbar Police Station in Mardan. 

According to police, the victims had arrived from Faisalabad to meet the bride’s aunt.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the young woman had eloped from her home and later married the man of her choice.

The motive behind the attack is believed to be linked to family or social tensions related to the marriage.

Soon after the shooting, police reached the scene, secured the premises, and shifted the bodies to a local hospital for autopsy.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the double homicide, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the attackers.
