In a major development, Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has achieved another milestone as 2,000 ships were docked at Karachi Port after an eight-year hiatus, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that 2,000 ships were berthed at Karachi Port over the past year, with a seveb percent increase in the berthing of ships.

The total tonnage of ships arriving at Karachi Port exceeds 84.4 million tons. Karachi Port Trust also recorded a 3 percent increase in gross registered tonnage.

The increase in maritime trade showed positive growth in the national economy. The Chairman of Karachi Port Trust achieved this success through shipping activities and operational performance.

KPT has recorded a major improvement in its global standing, climbing 30 places in the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2025, a development that reflects growing operational efficiency and increased maritime activity at Pakistan’s largest seaport.
