Retired police officer arrested for allegedly killing wife in Islamabad

A retired Islamabad Police officer was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing his wife following a domestic dispute in the Koral police station jurisdiction, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred in Ghauri Town, where former sub-inspector Tariq allegedly opened fire on his wife during a heated argument over domestic issues.

According to police, the accused, who retired from Islamabad Police about a year ago, allegedly became enraged during the dispute and shot his wife with a pistol, resulting in her death.

Police responded immediately after receiving information about the incident, arrested the suspect and recovered the weapon allegedly used in the killing.

A police team collected evidence from the crime scene as part of the investigation.

The body of the deceased woman was shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination, while the accused was taken into custody and transferred to Koral police station for further legal proceedings.

Police said an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
