Reforms being introduced in healthcare sector: Ahsan Iqbal

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal visited Cancer care Hospital in Raiwind on Saturday to review its operations and facilities, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Talking to media, Ahsan Iqbal admitted that the Cancer Hospital was a great success story for Pakistan. He was leaving very optimistic considering the facilities here and the energy with which it was built. 

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that reforms are being introduced in the healthcare sector under the "Uraan Pakistan" initiative. He said a three-year program has been launched to address the country's health challenges. 

He said that sixty-seven billion rupees have been allocated for the treatment of hepatitis and diabetes in the current budget while eight billion rupees have been earmarked in the upcoming budget for the provision of cardiac stents. 

The Minister said Pakistan has the highest number of hepatitis patients in the world. He announced that the government will soon launch a project to raise awareness and help eliminate diseases.
