Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has demanded the arrest of the prime minister and Punjab chief minister in the Ring Road scandal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

While talking to media in Lahore on Saturday, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb suggested that after the fact-finding report of Ring Road scandal, both Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar be arrested. She said it was not the case of simple anomalies, rather it was a larceny of more than Rs25 billion. She said PM Khan, CM Buzdar and all people involved in this scam should be arrested. She ruled out any NRO for Mr Khan and Mr Buzdar.

She said PM Khan and Buzdar were criminals in Ring Road scam and this larceny could only be happened while they were in power.

Ms Aurangzeb said as long as they were in power, one could not expect an impartial inquiry. The duo could only facilitate the mafias, she added.

She said on one the hand, PM Khan made cases against Shehbaz Sharif, put his name on ECL and on the other he sought to alter schemes initiated by Shehbaz in order to give benefit to the ‘rent seekers’.

She said Shehbaz launched development schemes worth billions of rupees but PM Khan could not detect corruption of a single penny in those schemes. However, with the realigning of Ring Road, a dacoity has been committed, she added.

She was of the view that after the revelation of Ring Road fact-finding report, an impartial inquiry was not needed rather there was a need to make arrests in this scam.

She said Imran Khan’s own decisions caused hoarding and rising of flour, sugar, LNG and medicines’ prices. She alleged that all decisions pertaining to Ring Road were made on the orders of Imran Khan and Usman Buzdar put his signatures on these orders. She questioned the drama of conducting an ‘impartial inquiry’ and demanded arrests.

She categorically stated since PM Imran and CM Buzdar were the main culprits and facilitators in this scandal, their names should be put on Exit Control List. She insisted that offices be opened on the third day of Eid (which in fact is public holiday) and names of both Imran and Buzdar be placed in ECL, black list and person-not-in-list.

She said government could not find any misappropriation and kickbacks in billions of dollars’ schemes launched during the PML-N stint. But Imran’s tenure is rife with corruption, kickbacks, rent seekers, theft and hoarding of LNG, flour and sugar, Ms Aurangzeb lamented and added that due to government’s corrupt policies people were becoming poor and unemployed.
