Tomato price in country reaches Rs240 per kg mark

There has been a phenomenal increase in the tomato price as now it has reached Rs2400 per kilogramme following a hike by Rs100 per kg just in one week, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, the people of Rawalpindi and Sheikhupura have been forced to buy tomatoes at the most expensive price. In Lahore, the price of tomatoes reached Rs220 to Rs 240 per kg.

Similarly, the bureau adds, the price of a tomato in Khuzdar, Larkana and Bannu has gone up by Rs40 per kilo during the past one week, while in Lahore and Rawalpindi, the rate has gone up by Rs30 per kilo.

In Sialkot and Multan, the price has increased by Rs20 per kilo, while in Peshawar and Hyderabad the price of a tomato is up by Rs10 per kilo.
