Karachi traffic police impose Rs100,000 fine on dumper owner

Karachi authorities have issued an e-challan of the highest amount in the city's history after a high-speed dumper crashed early morning in Razaqabad.

The vehicle, which met with the accident near Port Qasim Chowrangi, was found to be operating without a mandatory tracker and lacked a valid fitness certificate.

Following the incident, traffic officials imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the dumper owner, Sherzada.

Authorities confirmed that Sherzada has also been named in the FIR as part of ongoing efforts to hold vehicle owners accountable for safety violations.

In line with e-challan rules, half the amount will be waived if the fine is settled within 14 days.

Meanwhile, the dumper driver’s licence has been temporarily suspended for three months as investigations continue.

Officials say the penalty will serve as a strong reminder of the importance of vehicle fitness, monitoring systems, and responsible ownership in preventing future accidents and safeguarding lives on the city’s busiest routes.
