Amid all the press conferences, references and arrests, there is some good news for the Sharif family, as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) decided to close an inquiry concerning 12 plots of Lahore Development (LDA) against the PML-N president, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
The decision was taken as all the relevant record was reduced to ashes in the 2013 inferno at the LDA building located at Egerton Road.
During the course of the investigation, the NAB wasn’t able to find any evidence or prove any allegation against Shehbaz Sharif with the inquiry launched 20 years ago. Moreover, several people nominated in the matter have passed away.
It was alleged that Shehbaz during his first stint as Punjab chief minister from 1997 to 1999 had allotted 12 plots to his favourites. The NAB had initiated the inquiry in 2000.
The LDA had acquired the land of Mauza Nawankot for developing a residential area Gulshan Ravi in 1978 and was to provide 10-marla plots in return. However, the NAB claimed, one-kanal plots were given in the said case illegally.
