After announcing a surprise result of the Intermediate Part-II Exam Thursday in which scores of students belonging to the Multan and Faisalabad boards got 100% marks to the bewilderment of everyone, the Punjab boards are going to declare Matric result today (Saturday) with expectant students awaiting anxiously the recurrence of “marks loot mela” show once again.

The Punjab boards have announced to declare Matric results on Oct 16. The Matric students after seeing the surprise Intermediate Part-II results with pass percentage of 98% and with many students having secured 1100 marks out of 1100, have pinned their hopes on their respective boards that they would again be magnanimous in awarding superfluous marks. It is yet to see what good tidings the Matric boards would give to the students!

The Punjab boards have delayed the announcement of Intermediate Part-II results that were due on September 30 as the Punjab Cabinet was yet to approve the examination policy. But after getting approval from the provincial Cabinet, the Punjab boards decided to declare the results of Inter Part-II Examination, 2021 on Oct 14 and the Matric Examination, 2021 on Oct 16.

The cabinet has approved the promotion policy through a circulation that included the formula under which the grace marks will be given to all the students and all the students will be declared as pass.

However, yesterday’s result of the Inter Part-II Exam was surprising as some 48 students from the Multan board secured 100 percent marks while 7265 students secured marks above 1000. The success rate in Multan was 98.64 while only 2461 absent students were declared failed.

There are also 24 students from Faisalabad Board who got 100 percent marks in the intermediate examinations.

Lahore Board also announced a pass percentage of 98.71. Announcing the results, the board chairman said the students could check their results by sending an SMS on 80029. “The students will get five per cent grace marks in compulsory subjects,” he added.

Gujranwala board announced a pass percentage of 98.81 as 148560 students declared pass out of 150353 students.

Faisalabad board declared the results with a pass percentage of 98.59 as 109,970 students declared pass out of 111,547 students. Students can get their marks by sending an SMS to 800240.

However, the boards have not announced the toppers this year due to the shortened nature of the examinations due to coronavirus. There is also a huge number of students who had been declared pass after giving the grace marks, however, the educationists have raised concerns over the future of such students as according to them these students who have been passed with D grade would face hurdles in future.
