260 AQI puts Lahore on top of world’s most-polluted cities
Following drop in temperatures, the air quality has again started to deteriorate in Lahore as the city emerged as the world’s most-polluted city on Wednesday as the air quality index rose to 260, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Indian capital New Delhi was ranked as the second most polluted city in the world where the AQI was recorded at 224 followed by Kolkata where it stood at 168.
Lahore has been suffering from poor air quality issue for the last several years, and despite steps taken by the Punjab government, the situation continues to deteriorate.
The closure of brick kilns and a crackdown on smoke-emitting vehicles have failed to produce the desired results.
