FBR extends income tax return filing deadline till October 31

In a major relief for taxpayers, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns by 16 days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to an official notification, taxpayers can now submit their income tax returns for the year 2024 till October 31. The previous deadline was October 15.

The decision comes after repeated appeals from taxpayers and tax consultants, who had been requesting the FBR to grant an extension due to technical issues and workload at the end of the filing period.

The FBR stated that the extension aims to facilitate maximum participation of taxpayers and ensure smooth submission of returns without any inconvenience.

The board also urged taxpayers to file their returns well before the new deadline to avoid last-minute system congestion and penalties.
