Pakistan Coast Guards seize six trawlers for illegal fishing
Pakistan Coast Guard and Balochistan Fisheries personnel while taking action against illegal fishing (trawling) in the sea have seized six trawlers from the Balochistan maritime boundaries during the past one month, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday
According to spokesperson of Pakistan Coast Guard, about 245 prohibited fishing nets that were harming marine life and fish breeding were also seized in the Karachi maritime area.
The joint operation is being carried out against trawling and smuggling in the seas of Ormara, Pasni and Jiwani in Balochistan.
Trawling is a prohibited fishing method that not only causes severe damage to the marine environment but also affects the livelihood of fishermen.
In addition, trawling boats are often involved in other illegal activities, arms and drug smuggling.
Pakistan Coast Guards are performing their duties and assures with firm determination while carrying out its duties in an efficient manner.
It will perform its duties in the coastal belt and maritime area without any discrimination and without coming under any kind of pressure.
