Representatives of PBA, APNS, CPNE and PFUJ called on Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and State Minister for Information Farrukh Habib on Wednesday.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the meeting took up the proposed Pakistan Media Development Authority (PMDA). 

A joint action committee, comprising representatives of PBA, APNS, CPNE, PFUJ and the information ministries, was created. The committee will discuss issues such as bogus news on social media, rights of media workers and measures to bring betterment to the industry.

Separately, a meeting of the NA body with PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb also took up the matter. 

Media reps have been voicing concerns over the proposed authority. Civil society activists and human rights champions back the media reps.
