PTI leader Shabbir Gujjar sent to jail for identification parade in Jinnah House case

An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday sent PTI leader and former MPA Shabbir Gujjar to jail for an identification parade in connection with the Jinnah House attack case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Gujjar was produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court after police recorded his arrest in Case No. 96/23 registered at Sarwar Road Police Station.

The investigating officer told the court that Gujjar was involved in the Jinnah House attack case and requested permission to conduct his identification parade.

ATC Judge Sardar Muhammad Akram Khan accepted the request and remanded the accused to jail for the identification process.

The court directed investigators to complete the identification parade within seven days.

Advocates Saleem Ladhi and Yousuf Wain appeared on behalf of Gujjar and sought his discharge from the case.

The defence lawyers argued that police had not shown Gujjar as wanted in the Jinnah House case for the past three years and claimed that his arrest was linked to his affiliation with the PTI.

They maintained that there was no justification for keeping him in custody.

The public prosecutor opposed the defence request and argued that the identification parade was necessary for the investigation.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court allowed police to proceed with the identification parade and sent Gujjar to jail for the purpose.
