Bollywood composer-singer Bappi Lahiri dies at 69

Bollywood singer-composer Bappi Lahiri died at a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday morning. He was 69.

The veteran Indian singer had tested positive for Covid-19 in April last year, after which he was under full bed rest. The singer was being treated for multiple illnesses. He was brought to the hospital after his health deteriorated on Tuesday night and doctors tried to revive him but they couldn't.

Dr Deepak Namjoshi, the hospital's president, was quoted by PTI news agency as stating, "He died close to midnight due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea)."

Bappi Lahiri's untimely death has surely left a vacuum in the industry, and messages lamenting his loss have flooded social media.

Bappi Lahiri, often known as Bappi Da, had provided some legendary numbers to the audience.

As soon as the news of his demise was announced, the internet as well as fans flooded Twitter with condolence messages and paid their last respects to the singer.

"Singer Bappi Lahri no more. India loss another beautiful voice (sic)," a fan wrote.
