The eyesight of former premier Imran Khan has shown marked improvement as a team of senior doctors completed a detailed examination at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
According to the sources, the doctors' team expressed their full satisfaction over the course of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan's ongoing treatment.
Following the examination, eye specialists briefed opposition leaders as well as Imran Khan’s personal physicians for nearly one and a half hours, sharing detailed findings and medical assessments.
The sources said a team of specialist doctors, including ophthalmologists from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Al-Shifa International Hospital, conducted a comprehensive and detailed medical examination of the PTI founder inside jail.
The assessment focused particularly on his eye condition, which has been under close medical observation.
Sources said the doctors observed marked progress in his vision and conveyed confidence in the treatment being administered.
Sources maintained that the medical team is satisfied with the improvement and that treatment will continue as planned.
Separately, the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Monday issued a seven-page written order dated February 12 in connection with the matter relating to the eye examination of Imran Khan.
According to the written ruling, the court-appointed friend of the court submitted a report regarding Imran Khan’s living conditions. The order states that following submission of the report, the court’s earlier directives issued on August 23 and 24, 2023, have been duly implemented. As a result, the matter concerning the PTI founder’s living conditions has been rendered infructuous.
However, the court clarified that any issue relating to the health of the former prime minister may be raised before the relevant judicial forums.
The written order further notes that the Toshakhana trial against Imran Khan remains pending before the High Court, where proceedings in the case are continuing.
It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday, a five-member team of specialists, including ophthalmologists from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and Al-Shifa International Hospital, carried out a comprehensive medical examination of the incarcerated former prime minister.
The assessment included an eye examination, blood sampling, blood pressure monitoring and other routine diagnostic tests. The team later departed the jail premises, and a formal medical report is expected to be issued soon.
On the other hand, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar disclosed that with the use of corrective glasses, vision in one of Imran Khan’s eyes has improved to 70 percent.
Addressing an oath-taking ceremony of the Ferozwala Bar Association, the minister added that the vision in the former premier’s other eye is 6/6. He emphasised the need for political stability in the country, describing the blocking of motorways and roads as unconstitutional.
