Swat rally: ECP issues notice to PM Imran for violating election rules
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Wednesday night issued a notice to Prime Minister Imran Khan for violating the code of conduct of local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to sources, the ECP has also issued notices to KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Federal Minister Murad Saeed, provincial ministers Mohibullah and Dr Amjad Ali.
The notice was issued by the ECP’s District Monitoring Officer, Swat. He directed Prime Minister, Chief Minister and federal and provincial ministers to appear in person or through counsel on March 18.
The ECP had yesterday barred Prime Minister Imran Khan from visiting Swat but he violated the election rules and addressed a public gathering.
Earlier, the ECP had issued notice to PM Imran for addressing a public meeting in Dir last week.
According to the new code of conduct of the ECP, no public office holder can visit the districts in KP where the second phase of local body elections is scheduled for March 31.
