Javier Bardem voices support for Palestine at Oscars, slams Trump and Netanyahu

The Oscars ceremony took a political turn as Spanish actor Javier Bardem voiced strong support for Palestine, using the high-profile event to criticise US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the ongoing war in Gaza.

According to reports, Bardem raised pro-Palestine slogans during the ceremony and delivered sharp remarks against Trump and Netanyahu, accusing them of driving the region into another devastating conflict.

Speaking during the event, Bardem said the world was once again witnessing an “illegal war”, adding that 23 years later, another conflict had been launched based on what he described as lies, drawing a comparison to past wars and accusing the two leaders of pursuing military action to topple a government.

His comments quickly drew attention online, with many viewers highlighting the unusually direct political criticism delivered at one of Hollywood’s biggest nights.

In addition to Bardem’s remarks, several artists attending the Academy Awards also showed visible support for a ceasefire in Gaza by wearing “Artists for Ceasefire” pins on the red carpet and during the ceremony.

The badges have become a symbol of solidarity among actors, filmmakers, and other entertainment figures calling for an end to the war and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
