Woman killed, 11 injured in Karachi bomb blast

A woman died and another 11 sustained injuries in a bomb blast in Karachi Monday, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

Reportedly, three police are among the injured in the explosion near the New Memon Mosque in Kharadar area of the Sindh capital.  The condition of six of the injured is stated to be critical.

The blast could be heard in faraway areas. Rescuers and lawmen reached the spot. A senior officer of Sindh police said it was a ‘bomb blast’ that damaged several vehicles and motorcycles.

An improvised explosive device (IED), planted in a motorcycle, was detonated near a police van. An emergency has been declared in the city hospital.

A few days ago, an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Saddar claimed a life and injured more than a dozen.  The explosion occurred near a coast guard’s vehicle.

Four people, including three Chinese nationals, were killed in a suicide attack outside a university last month. Another four persons sustained serious injuries in the April 26 suicide strike. Security has been beefed up following the indecent.

Condemnation 

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the Karachi bomb blast.

The premier extended condolence to the bereaved families of the deceased.

Expressing sympathy for the injured, the prime minister issued directives to provide them with all-out support.

He passed on orders to nail the culprits at the earliest. 

PM Shehbaz assured the Sindh government of assistance from the Centre.

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz condemned the blast and extended condolence to the family of the woman who was killed. 

The Punjab chief minister assured his Sindh counterpart of all-out help. 

He prayed the Almighty may rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

He also pray for the early recovery of the injured. He stressed the need for unity to thwart such sabotage.
