Internet services have been suspended in different parts of the provincial metropolis Lahore for the third day in a row on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Internet services have been suspended including in Allama Iqbal Town, Muslim Town, Moon Market, Wahdat Road, Gulberg, Bastami Road, Dholanwal, Shah Jamal, Shadman, Shah Kamal, Ittihad Colony and in Samanabad’s L.O.S Road. The residents of the respective areas are facing difficulties due to the internet service shutdown.
Earlier, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had restored the social media platforms after a short closure on the directives of the Interior Ministry on Friday.
All social media applications including WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, Telegram and YouTube were restored at 3:00 PM.
Pakistan Friday suspended all social media platforms for a few hours.
The Interior Ministry had issued a notification to impose a complete ban on all social media platforms from 11 AM to 3 PM.
The action was taken after a letter was sent to the PTA chairman by the interior ministry.
The ministry, in the letter, had requested the PTA to take action against the issue "immediately".
Earlier, the internet and mobile services had remained suspended in many parts of the different cities in the wake of TLP protests.
As the government is fearing another street power show from TLP one day after it had banned the religious-politico outfit after Friday prayers, it had banned the social media in the country to stop spreading the protests that had turned violent in the recent days.
