Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Andy Kershaw dies at 66

Andy Kershaw, a former BBC Radio 1 disc jockey and well-known broadcaster, has died at the age of 66 following a battle with cancer, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday. 

His family publicly announced his death two months later. "He had been diagnosed with cancer in August last year."

According to reports, Kershaw had been suffering from spinal tumours, which left him unable to walk in the later stages of his illness.

Kershaw joined BBC Radio 1 in 1985, where he worked for 15 years and became a familiar voice to listeners.

He later went on to work with BBC Radio 4, continuing his broadcasting career.

Widely regarded as a distinctive and influential presenter, Kershaw was known for his contributions to British radio over several decades.
