Interior Minister Naqvi to visit flood-hit Buner today

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi will visit Buner, the worst flood-hit area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
During his visit, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi will review relief activities in the affected areas of Buner. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi will meet flood victims as well.
As per the channel report, in Buner, the death toll has exceeded 250, while bodies of 11 people have been found in Battagram. 
"The operation to rescue people trapped under debris is ongoing," Bilal Ahmed Faizi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's rescue agency told the AFP.
"There is still concern that dozens of people may be trapped under the rubble… the chances of those buried under the debris surviving are very slim".
He said that around 2,000 rescue workers were engaged in recovering bodies from the debris and carrying out relief operations across nine districts, where rain was still hampering efforts.

On the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Reserve Police continued rescue and relief operations in flood-hit Swat areas under the leadership of District Officer Maria. Commandant Federal Reserve Police Riaz Nazir Gada said that his teams were carrying out operations in different affected areas. He mentioned that several victims were rescued and medical teams were giving treatment to the injured. He also said that the Federal Reserve Police had moved the affected families to safe places.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi appreciated the determination and spirit of Commandant Riaz Nazir Gada, District Officer Swat Maria, and their teams. Mohsin Naqvi directed authorities to ensure proper accommodation and the provision of three meals a day to the victims. He said that the Federal Reserve Police personnel stand with their affected brothers and sisters in difficulty. The affected people should be taken care of like their own family, he concluded.
