CM Maryam visits Punjab Institute of Neurosciences, inquires about patients

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences, where Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb welcomed her.

The CM inquired about the health of Marriyum Aurangzeb’s mother-in-law, Mrs Taseer who has been undergoing treatment in the hospital’s ICU for the past four days. CM Maryam presented her with a bouquet and prayed for her speedy recovery while doctors briefed her about her condition.

During the visit, the CM also listened to complaints from patients and their attendants and directed the hospital administration to ensure their immediate resolution.

Ahead of the visit, hospital authorities made extensive arrangements for cleanliness and security. Police Special Branch and district administration officials remained engaged in security and administrative arrangements.

Punjab Home Ministry holds consultations with ulema to promote peace

The Punjab Home Ministry continued its meetings with religious scholars representing different schools of thought to discuss measures for maintaining peace and promoting religious harmony across the province.

Senior officials, including Home Secretary Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi, Special Secretary Home Faisal Farid, DIG Special Branch Sajjad Manj and a delegation of the Muttahida Ulema Board, led by Chairman Dr Mufti Intikhab Ahmed Noori, also participated in the meeting.

The discussions focused on the role of religious scholars in maintaining law and order, promoting tolerance and preventing sectarian tensions.

Home Secretary Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said respected Ulema were playing a key role in maintaining peace and religious harmony and urged for collective efforts to prevent content that could create sectarian divisions.

Qazi said the Punjab government had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against those spreading sectarianism on social media. He added that the Home Department had so far reported more than 13,000 objectionable social media accounts to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for action.
