Faisalabad lawyers announce strike against police misconduct
Lawyers in Faisalabad have announced a strike call on Tuesday (tomorrow) against unlawful and inappropriate conduct of police officials.
The strike call was given by office-bearers of the Punjab Bar Council. This is the third strike call in the Faisalabad division within a few days, following similar calls on August 11 and 17.
The protest is linked to allegations that police officials harassed the sons of Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed Luna. Lawyers have accused a sub-inspector of allegedly attempting to abduct and harass them and have demanded action against the concerned police officials from the Punjab Inspector General, RPO and CPO Faisalabad.
Meanwhile, questions are being raised over repeated strikes instead of resolving the dispute through legal forums. The strike is expected to affect hearings in Faisalabad courts, potentially causing delays in ongoing cases and difficulties for litigants travelling from distant areas.
