Foreign investment falls to $104.4m in November: State Bank

Pakistan received $104.4 million in foreign investment in November, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Wednesday.

SBP figures showed that foreign investment stood at $274 million in October, while $195 million was recorded in November last year, indicating a notable decline on a month-on-month and year-on-year basis.

During November, foreign direct investment (FDI) amounted to $180 million, down from $232 million in the same month of the previous year, the central bank said.

The data further revealed that $150.5 million was invested in the country’s private sector in November, while $42.8 million was withdrawn from the public sector during the same period.

On a cumulative basis, foreign investment during the first five months of the current fiscal year stood at $314 million. In comparison, Pakistan had received $1.39 billion in foreign investment during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year, according to the State Bank.
