MQM-P activist shot dead in targeted attack in Karachi

An activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) was shot dead in a targeted attack near Power House Chowrangi in New Karachi on Wednesday, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

According to police, the victim, identified as Mohammad Haji Shehzad, was the joint unit in-charge of MQM-Pakistan’s New Karachi Sector 5-E. He was a resident of the area and an employee of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation.

According to police, Shehzad was sitting at a tea stall when armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire, killing him on the spot. Five spent bullet casings were recovered from the scene, indicating heavy firing by the attackers.

Shehzad, a father of four, was shifted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The attackers managed to flee the area immediately after the shooting.

Police said an investigation had been initiated and evidence collected from the crime scene, while efforts were underway to trace and arrest those involved in the killing.
