“Digital Media; A Positive Outlook” Seminar at GCU Lahore

The Young Journalists’ Society of Government College University, Lahore, had held a seminar on the “Digital media: a positive outlook”.
Vice Chancellor of Government College University Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi (TI) was the guest of honour with motivational speaker and educationist Qasim Ali Shah was the guest speaker.
President of the society, Ali Bukhari invited the worthy speaker, Qasim Ali Shah to talk about the topic of the event. He started off his talk by deviating a little from the topic, but keeping it under the same umbrella. He first started with his own life experiences.
He explained how he once asked someone how Allama Muhammad Iqbal got famous and the answer he got was “through print media”. He then emphasized on the importance of digital media and how one should consume the right content or the content might end up consuming you.
He mentioned how when he was young, he visited the library quite often and would pay 1 rupee each day in order to borrow books. He once finished a single book in two days so he could have maximum time to read more. He also talked about children’s phone addictions and added a bit of humour to his speech to keep the audience engaged.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi was then called on the stage. He summarized the speech of the guest speaker and emphasized on the importance of questioning, hence motivating the students to do so.
The interaction with the guest speaker proved to be very fruitful and the session was finally concluded with the prize distribution ceremony for the extraordinary performance of the YJS team members through the year 2020-2021. The session ended with a group photo with the hardworking team of the Young Journalists’ Society.
