Adopted son of Sindhi poet Akash Ansari admits killing his father

Latif Akash, the adopted son of popular Sindhi poet Dr. Akash Ansari, currently in police custody in connection with his father’s murder, on Monday confessed he had killed him, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources told 24News TV channel that all proofs collected so far pointed toward the involvement of Latif in the poet’s murder. 

Sources elaborated that the son was an addict and kept demanding money from his father for the purpose. 

On the other hand, addressing a press conference, SSP Hyderabad Farrukh Lanjar said that the post-mortem as well as the forensic reports were awaited. “However, initial findings of the post-mortem show that Ansari was murdered with a sharp-edged weapon,” he informed.

Earlier, investigations into the death of popular Sindhi poet Dr. Akash Ansari have shown that he was murdered.

According to SSP Hyderabad Dr. Farrukh Lanjar, the probe has shown that Ansari’s death was not accidental. “The poet was burnt after he was killed, while further investigations are underway. So far we have not received the post-mortem report,” he elaborated. 

He also informed that the deceased had disputes with his adopted son. “This is proven by the fact that the former had even got an FIR registered against the latter.” 

The SSP went on to say that the police had interrogated several persons and were hopeful to get to the assassins within 24 hours. 

On Sunday, police arrested the son and driver of the late poet soon after their return after burying him in Badin.

SSP Hyderabad said that the son, Vishal Latif, and the driver Ayaz Sial were living with Ansari. 

Moreover, talking to 24News HD TV Channel, Medical and Legal Officer (MLO) Dr. Abdul Hameed Mughal, who also conducted an autopsy of the deceased, said that when the body was examined in detail, signs of torture were found on his body. 
He further said that cuts on the late poet’s body showed that he had been injured with the help of a sharp-edged weapon. The MLO said that the body was completely burnt.

Ansari was burnt to death while his son was critically injured when he tried to save him after a massive fire erupted in their home due to electric short-circuit in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Soon after receiving the report of the incident, a rescue team reached the residence of the poet, located in Citizen Colony and brought the fire under control. The deceased was living in his house along with his son.

Later the Rescue team shifted the dead body of the late poet to a mortuary of a local hospital while his son is still under treatment.
