PAF to perform aerial demonstrations at Champions Trophy opening ceremony

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is set to deliver a breathtaking aerial demonstration during the opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the National Stadium Karachi on Wednesday.

The prestigious event will feature high-speed aerobatic performances by the Sherdils Squadron, along with Pakistan’s advanced combat aircraft, the JF-17 Thunder and F-16 fighter jets.

For the first time in five years, the Sherdils Squadron will return to Karachi’s skies, performing precision aerial maneuvers with their K-8 Karakoram aircraft.

According to experts, the aerobatic team will execute complex formations, including low-altitude flights, high-speed parallel maneuvers, and inverted flights, demonstrating their exceptional flying skills.

During their breathtaking display, the Sherdils will create patterns in the sky, representing the colors of the Pakistani flag.

The pilots will execute thrilling aerial stunts such as barrel rolls, loops, and the spectacular "bomb burst" maneuver, leaving a rainbow-colored trail across the sky.

Alongside the Sherdils, the Pakistani-built JF-17 Thunder and the formidable F-16 fighter jets will also participate in the ceremony, showcasing the aerial prowess of the Pakistan Air Force.

The Karakoram-8-8 (K-8), a basic-to-advanced jet trainer aircraft, is extensively used at the PAF Academy in Risalpur to train newly inducted pilots.

Equipped with four hardpoints and a belly gun pod, the aircraft also possesses the capability to carry weaponry for operational training.

The upcoming aerial display is expected to be a major highlight of the Champions Trophy opening ceremony.
