President Zardari stresses agricultural reforms at Vehari gathering

President Asif Ali Zardari addressed a public gathering at Nawab Palace in Vehari on Monday night, highlighting agriculture as the most sustainable solution to Pakistan’s economic challenges.

Speaking at the event, the President said that when he first assumed office, the state of wheat production in the country was alarming. He emphasized that national development depends on strengthening farmers and improving agricultural productivity.

Asif Ali Zardari noted that water is not only essential for agriculture but also critical for public health. He added that while Pakistan is rich in natural resources, the country continues to face challenges due to a lack of effective policies.

He stated that governance requires flexibility and political maturity, stressing that political cooperation helps prevent extremist approaches from gaining dominance. The President said efforts are underway to stabilize the country, but meaningful improvement takes time.

Criticizing the performance of the previous government, he remarked that the country remained stagnant during its four-year tenure. He also revealed that the Government of Sindh has been directed to allocate funds for drip irrigation and other modern agricultural technologies to support farmers and boost productivity.
